Katherine Bonness is a composer based in Vancouver, Canada. She studied viola performance at the University of Manitoba Desautels Faculty of Music. Recent performances of her compositions include those given by Paolo Bortolussi (Alchemy for solo flute), Liam Hockley (Chimera for solo bass clarinet), and Jack Campbell (Day at the Lost Lagoon for solo violin). Her newest work, Night-shining clouds for string quartet was premiered at Vancouver Pro Musica’s 2022 Sonic Boom Festival by Parmela Attariwala, Jae-Won Bang, Sarah Kwok, and Sungyong Lim. Her work is in a contemporary classical style and explores themes of nature, mythology, and history.
