Bio
Ivana Jokic is a Serbian-Canadian composer and pianist. She composes music for solo musicians, chamber ensembles and theatre. She holds a MMus in Composition from the University of Victoria and a BMus in Composition from Wilfrid Laurier University. She studied composition with Linda Catlin Smith, Glenn Buhr, Christopher Butterfield and Daniel Peter Biro. She participated actively as a composer in various festivals around the world including the Bang on a Can Summer Festival, Orford Creation Workshop, Upbeat Summer School in Croatia, Salt New Music Festival and the Array Young Composers Workshop. Ivana is the co-artistic director of a week-long contemporary music festival in KW called the Waterloo Region Contemporary Music Sessions. Ivana is also a co-founder and co-organizer of the Kitchener Waterloo Composers Collective which is a collective of composers and performers that live and are from the KW area. Ivana is also an active piano teacher in the KW community. She is also a member of the KW branch for ORMTA (Ontario Registered Music Teachers Association), an association of music teachers in Ontario.
