English Bio
Katharine Petkovski is a Canadian composer and pianist based in Toronto. Her compositional practice spans concert music, choral writing, and music for film and documentary.
Named by CBC Music as one of its “30 hot Canadian classical musicians under 30,” her music has been performed and premiered by ensembles including the Vancouver Chamber Choir, musica intima, Exultate Chamber Singers, the National Youth Choir of Canada, the Happenstancers and Odin Quartet. She participated in Soundstreams’ RBC Bridges 2025 program with the Vancouver Chamber Choir, working with composer Tarik O’Regan, and was also selected for the Amadeus Choir’s Choral Creation Lab.
Her work has been recognized by the SOCAN Foundation Emerging Screen Composer Awards, the Diane Loomer Award and the NDSU Edwin Fissinger Choral Composition Prize. In 2026, she was nominated for The SCGC Rising Talent Award at the Canadian Screen Music Awards.
Petkovski holds BMus and MMus degrees in Composition from the University of Toronto, where she received the Tecumseh Sherman Rogers Graduating Award. She is a member of the Screen Composers Guild of Canada and the Association of Canadian Women Composers.
