With her masterful skills as an extraordinary cellist merging with the intuition of a gifted creator, Margaret Maria is a unique and exciting new voice in the world of music. Her talents have been described by her colleagues as, ‘an unstoppable force of nature – seamless in its complete unification of technical and subconscious realms’.

‘With a kind of synesthesia, I take energy waves of a moment in time, expand its emotions within me, then coat it in musical notes that are sent back out into the world as music. It is my voice making a statement on what it means to be a spirit in a human form living in this world today; from our darkest to our lightest facets reflected back through my music.’

A graduate of The Curtis Institute of Music, her performance career has seen her play on concert stages around the globe. Her later in life transition into composition has seen her work performed on stage in her very first World Premiere. ’Between Worlds’ was premiered in 2019 by the Ottawa Chamber Orchestra, with the great Canadian soprano Donna Brown.

From releasing 10 Studio albums, co-creating Rage Angel (Toronto) and Cinematic Steampunk (Los Angeles), co-creating ‘Art in Divine Harmony’ videos with the incredible Spanish surrealist painter Ángel Muriel, receiving 2 Ontario Arts Council recording grants and 3 Canada Council Grants for study abroad and music creation, to being a Kickass Canadian, the sky is the limit when it comes to Margaret Maria’s imagination and creations.

Grâce à ses talents de violoncelliste hors du commun et à son intuition de créatrice douée, Margaret Maria est une nouvelle voix unique et passionnante dans le monde de la musique. Ses collègues décrivent ses talents comme « une force imparable de la nature — sans faille dans son unification complète de la technique et du subconscient ».

« Avec une sorte de synesthésie, je prends les vagues d’énergie d’un moment dans le temps, j’en développe les émotions en moi, puis je les enrobe de notes de musique qui sont renvoyées au monde sous forme de musique. C’est ma voix qui s’exprime sur ce que signifie être un esprit vivant sous forme humaine dans le monde aujourd’hui, de nos facettes les plus sombres aux plus claires, qui se reflètent dans ma musique ».

Diplômée du Curtis Institute of Music, Margaret Maria a joué sur les scènes du monde entier. Plus tard dans sa vie, son passage à la composition l’a amenée à jouer sur scène lors de la toute première création mondiale de l’une de ses oeuvres. C’est en 2019 qu’a eu lieu la création de Between Worlds par l’Orchestre de chambre d’Ottawa, avec la grande soprano canadienne Donna Brown.

De la sortie de 10 disques enregistrés en studio à la cocréation de Rage Angel (Toronto) et de Cinematic Steampunk (Los Angeles), en passant par la cocréation des vidéos de la série Art in Divine Harmony avec l’incroyable peintre surréaliste espagnol Ángel Muriel, Margaret Maria a également obtenu deux bourses d’enregistrement du Conseil des arts de l’Ontario et trois bourses du Conseil des arts du Canada pour aller étudier à l’étranger et pour la création musicale. Kickass Canadian, elle ne se reconnaît aucune limite lorsque vient le temps de créer et de laisser libre cours à son imagination.
