Music By Women Performance Marathon

Women have primarily shaped my life in music through the influence of teachers, conductors, mentors, composers, researchers, and performers. Ever since I performed at the "Music by Women Festival" at Mississippi Women’s University in 2020, I dreamt of hosting a similar in Ottawa. It is my pleasure to announce that the first Music by Women Performance Marathon in Ottawa will take place on March 9th, 2024, from 1-4 PM at the 10,000 Hours Rehearsal Studio (353 Montreal Road, Suite 102). The mission of this festival is to create a come-and-go music marathon fundraiser of three straight hours of music composed by women to amplify the music of composers and raise money for the women’s shelters in Ottawa during Women's History Month. I hope to connect musicians across industries, genres, and generations by including every variety of composition, genre, ensemble, and ability are welcome to participate in this event. The only musical criteria for participating in this event is that your music must be composed (or co-written) by a woman. There is no charge to participate or attend, but there will be a donation box or an online QR Code to donate. 100% of the event proceeds will go to the Ottawa Women’s Shelters. I am thrilled to partner with the Association of Canadian Women Composers and 10,000 Piano Rehearsal Studios as sponsors for this event. If you have any questions about the event or would like to volunteer, sponsor, or support us with a donation, contact Olivia Adams at oamusicstudios.ca. You can learn more by visiting our webpage here.

Musicians interested in performing or those who would like their students to perform can register for the event here.
