Concert Of Canadian & Greek Women Composers

The ACWC is excited to help promote the first of two concerts that were made possible by our Concert Sponsorship Fund. Coreen Morsink presents a concert of Canadian & Greek women composers on March 4th at St. Catherine’s Theatre. More information can be found below.

A special educational concert featuring compositions of Canadian and Greek Women composers will take place at St. Catherine’s British School, Kifissia (Athens), Greece played by violinist Argyro Seira, pianist Penny-Sue Joyce and cellist Leslie Jones. The concert will feature the work of five composers who are members of the Association of Canadian Women Composers, (ACWC/ACC) Linda Catlin Smith, Sophie Dupuis, Alison Yun-Fei Jiang, Stella ter Hart and Coreen Morsink (who is also Greek). Greek women composers featured will be Fani Kosona, Roxani Chatzidimitriou, Xenia Konstantinidou and Stella Koutselou. The concert will explore the background of women composers in ancient Greece, modern Greece and Canada, leading up to a discussion of our present-day group of Greek and Canadian women composers on the programme. The St. Catherine’s Lower School choir will also join in to give world premieres of works by two of the composers. The concert is free of charge and will be live streamed for world-wide viewing.
