Remembering Jocelyn Morlock

With immense sadness, we at ACWC/ACC acknowledge the passing of Jocelyn Morlock, a long-time ACWC member and a friend and mentor to those in our community and beyond.

Her music has been widely performed and has inspired so many. She was Composer-in-Residence for Music on Main (2023-2014) and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (2014-2019). She won numerous awards, including a Juno Award for Classical Composition of the Year in 2018 for her composition "My Name is Amanda Todd," commissioned and premiered by the National Arts Centre Orchestra.

Jocelyn was a dedicated educator and influential to young composers through teaching music composition at UBC School of Music for many years.

Her music has had a significant impact on the music community in Canada, and she will be greatly missed.

We're thinking of Jocelyn's family and friends at this time, and we will all deeply miss her.
